【Lake District】Mountain weekend

生物の先生と湖水地方の山を歩いてきました。

You might know our high school Mountain club teacher was a Biology teacher. He was (of course unofficially) called “UNI” (sea urchin) after his research. It’s a very popular story among our high school students.

We’ve been in the Lake District last weekend with another Mountain teacher. He is also a Biology teacher! It makes sense that biologist likes nature, however it might be destiny for me to climb with Biology teacher.

We met at BBC Proms in RAH by chance. End of August, we went to Dartmoor National Park. I learned the importance of navigation with compas in such a wid-spreaded hills.

3 hour train trip from London Euston station to Penrith station near the Lake District

Thanks for the lift, it took only 30 min. to get the camp site in Keswick.

and slept in Goretex single wall tent.

In the morning, it was first time to see the Lake District landscape.

Climbing to the highest mountain in England.

Scafell Pike, 977m

(It might be in another post :) )

At dinner, huge party in Royal Bengal, Bangladeshi & Indian cuisine.

Look at superb wide angle of EF-S 10-22mm!

Sky walking on the ridge from Catbells to High Spy, west side of Derwentwater (lake).

The peak was occupied by our party.

Fantastic view of Derwentwater from the ridge, but quite windy so that we had lunch on a hillside.

There are lots of tiny islands on the lake. Some of us played canoeing on the water.

We headed to the Scafel Hotel to have chips and drinks.

Beautiful stream like Azusa-gawa river in Kamikouchi

And fantastic night again!

Brithsh style dinner with Brilliant cake

Precious moment with friends who love mountains!
